UPDATE, Sept 24, 2004 Well, we had some bad news recently…. Aashid had a very rough night, and ended up being rushed to St. Thomas Hospital, where it was determined that he required a new valve for his heart. He had the surgery a few days ago, and is currently recovering. Thankfully, the staff at St. Thomas is among the best for heart problems. Aashid asks us to remember him in prayer, and to renew our awareness of our interconnectedness. "One Heart!"
UPDATE, June 20, 2004 Give thanks! Aashid has been at home for a few weeks, where he is continuing what is certainly a miraculous recovery. His right arm, which had been paralyzed since early April, is now almost completely under his control. He's getting weekly physical therapy, and a bit of sunshine. "All praises the The Most High!" he croons.
UPDATE, April 22, 2004 Aashid needs prayers! He's been in the intensive coronary care unit at the hospital for more than a week, and desperately needs surgery to deal with a bad heart valve, but doctors are attempting to reduce a severe infection before operating.
This came as a shock to those around him who had been watching Aashid make a great recovery.
. . . And, while Aashid is fortunate enough to get TennCare benefits, the reality is that money is something that can really help him and his family right now! When I recall the gifts Aashid has given us over so many years, it's easy to imagine that there are more than a few willing hands in my community to give this big man some dollars.
